People that I haven’t seen in years (specifically Asian adults) ask me, “What college do you go to - UT?”
Ummm HELLO! There are OTHER great schools in Texas besides the UT! I go to Texas State in San Marcos, and yes, I know that it’s not as awesome as UT, but I don’t care.
I’ve been asked this a lot recently, and it’s been bugging me ever since. I know that’s where all the Asians go to, but why do people need to assume that? I see the looks on their faces all - I don’t know - not impressed. Call me crazy, but I feel like they don’t think I won’t be successful just because I don’t go there.
Don’t get me wrong - I love UT! I’m a huge fan of their school, but unfortunately, I wasn’t able to get in because I was stupid enough not to turn my stuff on time. Of course there is the opportunity to transfer, but things would get so complicated.
I surprisingly like it here in SM. I love all the new memories and new friends that I’ve made, and I want to have more of them for one more year before I find a nursing school.
As much as I, as well for my parents, would love to attend UT, if I keep getting these questions, it makes me more reluctant to go. So what if I don’t go to UT. I can still be just as successful. I just want to get my degree, start working on the job I’ve been kicking my butt for 4 years, and see what else is there for me in the future.
I wish they’d make a Young Avengers movie.
